470 Homes Residential Development Using ATI’s Cavity Batten System

Learn why Mark, a home owner from Brisbane, convinced his builder to use Cavi-Break thermal break and Cavi-Vent cavity drainage battens in his build after doing his own research on thermal break and cavity ventilation battens for his residential project.
“After a quick Google search, I came across Australian Thermal Industries (ATI) while researching options for my new home. I wanted the best solution, especially after learning about New Zealand’s strict building standards due to previous issues with mould and timber rot.
Their requirements, which include a minimum 18mm thickness for cavity battens to ensure proper ventilation, highlighted the importance of choosing the right products for both durability and occupant health.
With the NCC 2025 draft also recommending an 18mm minimum for battens, ATI’s Cavi-Break and Cavi-Vent stood out as the only products available meeting this specification, and Cavi-Vent went a step further with ventilation cutouts to maintain airflow for vapour-permeable wall wraps.
This was a perfect fit for my requirements, helping prevent moisture build-up and ensuring a healthier environment for both occupants and the structure.
Another key factor was ATI’s fire-resistant Cavi-Break and Cavi-Vent products, unlike other options on the market that simply state that they are combustible, which was crucial due to our BAL requirements.
ATI provided exceptional support, giving me all the details I needed to persuade my builder to choose ATI’s Cavi-Vent batten over inferior alternatives.
I couldn’t be happier with the peace of mind and quality ATI has brought to our new home.”
